Artist Statement: My work features how Covid-19 has affected myself and others in my community. When starting my artwork, I was focusing on my family and seeing how others in our community (latinx) were affected by covid and what it was they did at the time. In three of my pieces, since I was focusing on my family, they focused on what my family went through and what they were doing at the time while being on lockdown and doing E-learning. Plus in one of my three, my little brother looks as if he’s being isolated and looking out for something.

As time went on I started to shift not just in my community but also in other different cultural communities. So I created another piece that shows how people have lost loved ones not just because of covid but possible other health related issues and because of lockdown the ones who lost their loved ones couldn’t go and see them, plan funerals, or get affection/reassurance from their family so the piece I created shows an option that people could do to remember their loved one who had passed and it was pretty much all they could do at the time and what they sent out to their families on who they created it in remembrance of.
