It had just turned 11:50 pm and all the parents had called for the children to file into my grandma’s living room because “Santa was about to drop off the presents”. The older kids rolled their eyes and laughed a little. I, of course, had my suspicions about Santa Claus but nevertheless, I was still excited to open presents. Our aunt turned off all the lights and made us sit down on the carpet. She read us the Night before Christmas and told us to go to sleep and close our eyes or Santa wouldn’t come. We closed our eyes and held back giggles when someone fake snored, and then we heard bells. Jingle jingle. We sat there listening to the bells that came from my older cousin hiding in the dining room. The light from the Christmas tree, the soft red carpet and the sound of jingle bells, perfect. My aunt laughed and said, “Santa!” The little kids were whispering excitedly and the older kids were confused but also excited. Our aunt told us Santa came & brought us all presents!
