Artist Statement: These portraits are focused on the expression of the primary emotions one feels daily – fear, anger, sadness, distress, etc. It tells a story through its multiple layers of imaging and how they all blend in and mask together. These attributes are crucial because emotion is sometimes unable to be expressed in multiple forms all at once as it would be in the mind of its facilitator. Emotion can never be one display, yet it relates to a wide spectrum of cloaks that are hidden behind its sole term. These sentiments are taken from my own struggle of being clinically diagnosed with depression and panic attack anxiety. I chose to take the feelings that tangle together in the abyss that is my mind and vividly express it for the eye to encapsulate.
