Artist Statement:
To create the base of my environment, I wanted to showcase an autumn forest landscape, and for the enchanted element I added blues and purples to contrast with the yellows and oranges, giving it more of a supernatural look, and I added various creatures through the landscape. I incorporated wet on dry for the rocks, wet on wet for the yellow tree, layering for the fall leaves, and the gradient wash for the mushrooms. My color scheme is shades of brown, orange, and yellow, contrasting with blue and purple, creating a more magical look because of how rarely those colors are naturally seen together. There’s a falling phoenix in the midground of the landscape, little teardrop-shaped creatures by the mushrooms, a snake in the leaves, and bushes with eyes in the background.
