Artist Statement:
I was able to visually represent myself in my self-portrait by sticking to the same color, pink, for almost the entire portrait. Also by including symbols & stickers that represent me such as, strawberries, my melody stickers, a to-do list, hearts, etc. The symbols relate to me because pink is my favorite color, you can definetely tell by the color of my backpack, my pencil pouch, and by what I usually wear. Strawberries are not necessarilly my favorite fruit, magoes are, but I still enjoy them and I thought they went well with my artwork. My melody is one of my favorite characters of all time, my room is filled with her and pink things in general. Although I don’t have many symbols on my portrait, a lot of the stickers represent me because I love stickers. I also love hibiscus flowers, and flowers in general. The lyrics are from a Karol G song, “Oki Doki”, and I love music and listening to Karol G. I chose a spanish song to represent my latina side.
