Artist Statement:

My name is Roman Sanchez. The title of my artwork is: Every Boys Dream. I am inspired to make art by the things I love, such as basketball. I may not get to play in the NBA, but I can still create art of my favorite basketball players. I was inspired to make this piece by the artwork of Awol Erizku, an Ethiopian-American artist who makes 2D and 3D art about basketball. Erizku created a portrait of one of my favorite players, Kevin Durant. One reason I am inspired by Erizku is that he makes art for people in his community to enjoy. For me, art helps me with my patience and attention span. When I’m creating an art piece, it helps me pay close attention to the details that bring my art to life.
