Description: My plaster project is called “Thanatos”, representing the fear of death. The main element is plaster and it allows me to use 3d to represent my theme. The focal point of my piece is the blood dripping down the face. This is made clear due to the bright red liquid of the dark mask, showing contrast. My artist influence was Louise Bourgeois, This was because she represented a dark concept with an art piece that has little correlation between the two. My work is connected to my theme because I showed my view of the Greek god “Thanatos” the god of death. How death can be viewed in many ways. But in this art piece, its viewed through the eyes of someone who fears. Which gives me one of my phobias I picked out to make art on. To improve I think I could have smoothed out the plaster on the face. Would have made the piece look more crisp and well rounded. But besides that I’m fairly confident in this piece and I think its one of my more successful and proud pieces.
