2021 Spring AAP Theatre Arts

Spring Showcase 2021 Intro: Honors Theatre Arts is thrilled to share our spring showcase with you. Indepth exploration into the world of American playwright August Wilson culminated in monologues from his Century Cycle. Students used their monologues to compete in the National August Wilson Monologue Competition – with three of our students featured in the Chicago Finals. Through our work with playwright Jose T. Naterasand Pegasus Theatre Chicago, students wrote original one-act plays from ten to forty-five pages in length. Our students have some serious talent – these plays are terrific. In our “Behind the Curtain” exhibit, students talk about their playwriting process and share their talents beyond the stage. In “My Dream America” students wrote and performed poems sharing their views for a more perfect union – prepare to be inspired. Finally, on a lighter note, students combined their improv skills with their playwriting training to create “Comedy Sketches.” We hope you enjoy our work; we sure had fun creating it.
