Teacher Name: Amy Diamond
Grade: 12
Materials: Digital Art
Artist Statement: My favorite subjects in school are math and science, so when I had to take an art class at school I was a little hesitant. I remember looking through the course catalog thinking there is no way I could be good at any of these classes. As I was scrolling through I saw digital imaging, I thought that this could be a cool class because I also like computer science, so maybe that would make that class a little easier for me. As I continued through the class I started to love it. I was able to create geometric designs and transform the patterns I had doodled on my school papers for years into a cohesive piece. What I really love about digital design is that you can truly create anything and experiment with different styles and designs. As you look through my portfolio you can see my “math brain” evident in the various geometric patterns and symmetric designs. The class that I initially thought I would be the worst at ended up being my favorite class. I ended up taking digital imaging II with photography my senior year. I am thankful for my art teacher Ms. Diamond for teaching me how to use Adobe programs and always encouraging me. My art is a reflection of myself and how my brain works and sees the world which I find truly special about my work.
