Artist Statement:
This piece is about my feelings towards being the only black girl in class for the majority of my youth. The drawing in the middle represents a yearbook photo from when I was in 5th Grade, where I am the only black girl (in the bottom right). The hands represent me at an older age, looking back at this moment with frustration.
