Artist Statement:
The feeling of self-isolations is portrayed through the illusion of depth in the artwork. The crowding of people in the background allows for balance of the composition as well as the isolation of the center figure. The center figure’s positioning showcases the sharp focus required in such a mental sport. The empty chairs further exemplify the center figures commitment to being focused in their own mental space and the isolation of being focused.
