Artist Statement: My work portrays the significance that natural elements play in South Asian culture—inspired by my many trips to India throughout my life noticing the stark differences in how nature is viewed there from other places. My artwork depicts the incorporation of nature within South Asian history, traditions, daily life, and also personal connections I made during my trips to India. The inquiry driving my work is what significance does the incorporation of nature have on historical South Asian traditions and beliefs? Which of those transitions are still practiced today?
