Artist Statement: I strive to highlight some of those narratives and events and make people aware that there is much to learn about our country and world. Some people will find my art uncomfortable and it should be. To be disturbed means to have something interrupt the norm. My art should make people aware. They should question biases that they have let seep into their everyday lives. My art should lead them to research, have conversations, and eventually more independent study. I appreciate stumbling across new things about the world and want to share my knowledge through my art. Through countless mediums, I can flesh these ideas out, allowing my ideas to take new and unfamiliar forms. Art has always been a reflection of how society is doing and my art will continue to reflect on the decisions of America and make people aware of the ones that have come before them.
