Artist Statement: My work focuses on the idea of perspective and how it affects how music is perceived throughout different individuals. I’m influenced by the idea of how others experience that very same songs, melodies, lyrics, etc. My personal drawing style and usage of markers/pen lining express how I study the things I’m hearing. The imagery helps convert sounds into visuals, taking big ideas within a song and mellowing them down into a still frame. I hope my work shows the power that music holds, being able to mean multiple things at once. Music can be an escapism or awakening which fully depends on a person’s perspective.
