Artist Statement: In my artwork I created a scene of two swans desperately in love, reaching for each other. I thought that the cross contour line techniques would go perfectly with this idea because birds give off such amazing movement in their wings, and specifically with swans, their long necks. I also decided to title my piece “The Symphony Of The Swans.” because I think that the lines that I used in my drawing resemble sound waves, like the swans calling out to each other. I set up my drawing with a scenic background, and for the main focus being the two swans. On both sides of my paper, I have two different unique trees that I think look almost like ballet/ theater stage curtains/props, which was done to try and give my artwork a theatrical impression. (As if the swans were recreating the balcony scene from Romeo and Juliet). In the background of my artwork, and in the swans themselves, I use long wavy lines that overlap each other, as they are both complex, like their love.
