Artist Statement: Growing up and having the opportunity to call such an amazing city home is really a blessing, although with that comes a fast-paced life that sometimes makes you forget to look at and appreciate the beauty in the little things in life. Eli Reed, (a black American photographer) is one of my biggest inspirations in this project due to his unique way of capturing the simplicity of people and everyday life. As a young photographer myself I tend pay ohmage to the role of kids and young people, specifically how they give the feeling that makes moments in such big city feel like more than just noise and flashy lights. During my work process I began to notice that the best way to convey my stories, emotions and messages was to do so by using certain demographics of people and taking most of my photos at dusk, thus giving my work a subtle yet powerful look. Through my work I show my perception of the world while spotlighting the beautiful small moments that normally get overlooked. In this collection I show what feels like home to me while also making the moments feel like a nostalgic memory the people can resonate with.
