I do the work I do to express how I feel in regards to the moment of the artwork and the type of artwork that it is. My goal for these pieces were to recreate pieces with my own symbol for example, for “Jimmyville” I crated the album cover “Nellyville” and for “Greatness” I recreated a graffiti piece from the movie “Spider-Man: Into the Spide-Verse”. When people see my work, I’d like them to know where my work comes from and what it resembles.
The medium used for “Jimmyville” were watercolors and for “Greatness” oil paint on canvas. The brush I used most was the flat brush and a liner brush for detail. I used the flat brush to cover the big space in the backgrounds of both pieces. I used the liner brush to create detail in the face in “Jimmyville” and bricks in “Greatness”. These brushes helped make this piece more detailed and complete.
My work was a painting, something I don’t usually do and I’m not yet comfortable doing. Painting is one of my weaknesses when it comes to art. I usually draw my works but not paint them. These were definitely one of my most challenging pieces yet, and I knew that because I had to take my time and be patient with my work and also add a lot of detail to it.
