Artist Statement: Tayler Brooks is a remarkable 17-year-old black female student hailing from the vibrant Southside of Chicago.
Her artistic expressions serve as a reflection of the rich tapestry that encapsulates her identity. Growing up in the resilient community of the Southside, she draws inspiration from its history and diversity, infusing her creations with the essence of a place that has shaped her profoundly.
As a black Muslim female, she embraces the beautiful intersectionality that defines her existence. Her art becomes a canvas where she paints the narratives of her cultural heritage and spiritual beliefs. She uses her creativity as a powerful tool to challenge stereotypes, break down preconceptions, and celebrate the profound beauty found within diversity.
