Description: From the khaloona on her face to the strong, distant look in her eyes, Avizeh’s photo of a Kochai has always reminded me of strength and my grandmother. My work was heavily inspired by her photograph, as it demonstrates one of the most traditional markings of our culture. The messy paint of the work is a reflection of what it means to be a Kochai, a wandering nomad, strong no matter what faces her. Watercolor represents the flow of the nomadic lifestyle, depending only on water to come to life.
