Description:  The phrase “burning in hell,” an everlasting punishment for sinners of the human world, inspired my painting. The girl, made with a monochromatic red color scheme, is the sinner. She has the rebellious nature of an adolescent, as she calmly lights a cigar, not caring to repent for her sins. The monochromatic blue flames collide with her exposed hand and facial muscles, helping create high contrast and the illusion of scorching flames. I criticize the phrase to show the damn will not be damned.
