Artist Statement: We all as humans, and society strive for growth, I wanted to represent key things in the state of growth that are important to unravel and to truly open our eyes to. I wanted to display components in the small details of each piece to visualize stages of growth such as thinking, understanding, and healing. When breaking down what it means to grow, it takes a lot more than what is anticipated and the choice is inevitably ours, whether we are willing to go threw those obstacles of growth and understand that those obstacles are us growing as individuals, that with time we will understand in some light, why we felt and processed things the way we did. Growing isn’t easy and pain-free, but it is necessary for us to value ourselves and move for ourselves, just as much as we do for others. Within the makings of these pieces, I was inspired by the experiences that I had faced throughout this year alone. I had to really think about why I wanted to display these ideas and their importance to showing my experiences through art. Breaking down some of the walls that I had built in my mind and heart in order to tell a story enabled me to draw with that story and feeling, to bring relatability and open-mindedness. I have learned that we are all destined for growth and change but we have to understand what it means to us, how it actually feels, and the sacrifices we need to make to move forward.
