Artist Statement: I believe that what someone creates can express who they are and care about. My art is a window that allows others to see the world through my eyes. My work is mostly inspired by the various legends and stories I heard throughout my life. Some are folktales derived from real life or white lies to keep children from misbehaving such as the legend of La Llorona, and the Island of the Dolls. I find it necessary for people to spend time listening to others’ stories and passions. It is a way to better understand each other.

One of the things that got me interested in art was that I was able to create something new, something to call my own, other than that it all started with a sibling competition. I had finally become better at something than my brother, that accomplishment led to the discovery of my passion. I started out by trying out as many mediums as possible until I found my preferred medium. Now most of my work is color pencil and watercolor. I find it very important to look back on your old work to see how much you have improved and see the evolution of your work and material techniques. The journey is only an encouragement to keep going and see where your passion leads you. One of my biggest goals in life is to create new stories that others can remember fondly.
