Description: The second piece of my concentration project, the symbol of freedom is not immune to the corruption of mankind.
Artist Statement: Storytelling is the key to all of my art, no matter the medium. My collection of work mostly consists of hand-drawn illustrations that create an interesting narrative. My current work explores a possible future a couple of decades from now that looks at how humanity has destroyed the planet with pollutants. In this world trees have fallen, the air is thick with smog, the water is tainted with oil, and all the fauna have been twisted into bio-mechanical abominations. I portray their pain and suffering through the use of color pencil and graphite illustrations, creating awe-inspiring scenes full of emotion and conflict. I want the audience to be frightened and disgusted by these beasts, but also understand that this is our fault and have sympathy for the poor creatures. Outside of my current illustrations, each piece of mine has a tale to tell, even in the smallest of sketches. Getting an emotional response from whoever views my work is the core reason why I decided to become an artist.
