Artist Statement: My self-portrait assignment was an interesting assignment to do because of how I draw myself in drawing to make it look realistic and to add the right colors for my skin and my hair. For the background that I did is that I added some words of “sweets” because I have a thing for candy, especially chocolate, and for “Asperger/Autism” is that I struggle to understand people and how it’s a part of me. Finally, the colored swirls and the pride flags, for the colored swirls is that I enjoy drawing and it helps me calm down for a bit, and for the pride, flags is how I identify my sexuality as demisexual meaning how I want to get to know that person better and if I have a deep connection with them, and for my gender identity if you see a question mark on the pride flags is that I still think I’m confused about is if I identify as demi girl meaning I don’t fully identify myself as a woman or I could be gender fluid meaning I feel like to change over time in my gender expression or gender identity, or both.
