Artist Statement: This piece was inspired by Barbara Kruger’s artwork, Your body is a battleground that was used in support for women’s rights for abortion. The intention of this artwork is to shed light on the issue of self image. Many women and young girls grow up believing that they need to have a certain body shape or have a certain eye color to be beautiful. The abstract lines in the background follow lines of the face or facial features.
