Artist Statement: I go out to take photos with the intention to capture moments of my day to day. I view my photos as journal entries of sorts. I try to carry a camera with me wherever I go so as a result my photos are almost never planned. I photograph whatever interests me but my main passions are people so I focus mainly on street portraiture. I love talking to characters and being able to leave with a tangible memory of our encounter. I have been shooting the majority of my photos on 35mm film because I love the look and the feel that comes with film. Having a film camera especially is always an easy way to start a conversation. I also develop and scan my film at home(mainly to keep costs down) but I have grown to really love that process. I see my photos as a reflection of myself, as it’s things that I see that interest me. Currently I photograph my daily life and people in my life because eventually I’d like to photograph other people’s lives and the people in their lives.
