Description: This dress represents the beauty in recycling and saving the planet. We humans use more trash than we think, and we must start to lessen our negative effects on the earth.
Artist Statement: In my artistic work, I like to incorporate elements of progression and attention to issues in the world. My work bends the construct of gender and promotes environmental sustainability. I believe that art is one of the few things truly designed for ALL people and it can be used to tell stories and send messages.
Making art, for me, is an escape from reality that somehow actually brings me closer to that reality. Getting lost in pigment, scraps, and thread is a therapeutic experience, and at times viewing others’ work can be therapeutic as well. Art is a community of creatives, an open house for anyone willing to unleash their creativity, and with the right drive, art can be a community of change-makers.
