Artist Statement: As a new artist, I was still figuring out what I needed to do and learn. I knew that I was into nature and how it gave me a piece of mind. Growing up in a community where there was lots of gang violence and drugs, I had lots of anxiety and depression. As I said before, nature was a getaway from all of the problems that were around me. All the artwork that I create is from pictures that I take. I like taking close-up photos of leaves, plants, and animals because there are so much detail and meaning to it. The items that I used are watercolor, pencils, Acrylic Paint, and Prisma color pencils. I would draw the plant or flower and go on using a pencil to add the detail. After finishing all of the detail using the pencil, I laid out a very little watercolor or paint to map out all of the colors and see where I’m going to start. I focus on the center and the most detailed part of the painting. I then go on doing the rest and finishing up the detail for the rest of the piece. I then use the Prisma color pencils to add the little bits of detail that need it to make it look more realistic and add more depth.
