Artist Statement: My project exemplifies a landscape, as it visualizes the location of Manai Falls in the Takachiho Gorge, showing how the features of the area engage with one another. It also ties itself to man made construction, as it displays a bridge that connects the walls of the gorge together. The color scheme that I settled into gives off a theme of heat and passion, since it’s so visually striking to the eye compared to the actual cool color scheme of the real-life location. Because of this small difference, The view someone could take away from this could be completely different from the original. I originally chose a warmer color scheme for the illustration of the location’s grand and calmly isolated tone. As I created the piece however I began to use the colors in a way that felt more intense and fiery than the original plan asked for. I still do enjoy the results that it gave me however, as it gave the landscape a whole new tone with a simple change in colors.
