Artist Statement: The artwork includes printmaking and drawing, the theme was based off of japanese tegata which is a sumo wrestlers hand stamp and his signature. I added a dragon that is depicted in japanese art to add something else from their culture. Just like with traditional Tegatas I wrote my name over the hand print, though sometimes they are placed more to the side. During the process I played around with many japanese dragon designs until I was satisfied with the one I came up with. I used red watercolor to stamp my hand onto the paper, then I used a brush with black ink to write my name on top of the print. To transfer the dragon design I used a light table so that they were exactly the same, next I used a marker to ink the dragon then I erased the pencil beneath it. This artwork is the third edition of three prints, for writing my name on top I was debating on whether I should write my name in Japanese but I decided not to.
